APC Bring Back our Economy, Sen. Gershom Demands, As Acting President Visits Calabar Today

All is now set for Cross River state to play host to the Acting president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Osibanjo who is on a one day visit to the state.

While in the state the Acting President is expected to have a town hall meeting with Cross Riverians, inspect and Commission a couple of Projects embarked by the Sen. Ben Ayade's administration.

Meanwhile as Cross Riverians await the arrival of the acting President, Sen. Gershom Bassey, Senator Representing Southern Sentorial District has demanded that the APC led Federal Government should restore the economy to how it was when they came into power in 2015.

Sen. Bassey Who was Speaking in an interview with Johnbosco Agbakwuru as reported on the vanguard news paper publication of  30th May said APC inherited the largest economy in Africa from  the PDP Government and Shredded it pieces in just two years. He further Stressed that the APC had no excuse whatever given the electoral promises they gave Nigerians which brought them into power, therefore, they cant afford to fail.

"...look, APC inherited the largest economy in Africa, today we are no longer the largest economy in Africa. You can give whatever reasons that you like, but it is incumbent on the APC to ensure with all its election promises that we return and surpass the level we are now", he said

Sen. Bassey who is a first timer in the red Chamber, earlier said that the Buhari led federal government may have done their best in piloting the affairs of the Nation, but Nigerians actually wants more, voted for more and they promised Nigerians more, so Nigerians deserves more.

In his words:
"Well, they have tried their best, let me put it that way. But I think that Nigerians want a bit more than that, so far, they have done their best, but they need to do much more because Nigerians voted for more and deserved more and the APC promised more. So, I don’t think they have met the expectations of Nigerians."

"...The economy that the APC met has shrunk. It is not as large as it was when the APC met it. I have seen their recovery plan, so, I expect that the APC has to do everything in their power, to ensure that they return Nigeria to be the largest economy in Africa. I don’t want to go into details. They were bequeathed with a large economy; they should return us not the same size but the largest economy in Africa, it should be even bigger than the one they met."

As the Acting President steps into Calabar, we sincerely hope he takes back the plight of cross riverians to the presidency where urgent measures will be set in motion to alleviate the scourging sufferings of Cross Riverians.

Paramount among all is the lack of Federal presence in the state. The Buhari/Osibanjo led Federal government is yet to execute any project in the state, thus giving Cross River state a sense of belonging.

Notwithstanding Cross Riverians as peace loving people welcomes his Excellency Prof Yemi Osibanjo, the Acting President of the Federal republic of Nigeria to Cross River State.
