Ayade in Trouble as Prince Otu Files a Court Order Against The Sun Newspaper for Malicious use of His Name

Senator Prince Bassey Otu erstwhile senator representing Southern Senatorial district of Cross River State in the 7th assembly has filed a court action against the management of The Sun  Publishing Limited, publishers of the Sun Newspaper, over the malicious use of his name to publish a false advertorial.

Prince Otu who filed the court Action in a Calabar High Court through his solicitors Utum U. Eteng Legal Practitioners, questioned the unauthorized  use of his name by the paper and demanded a retraction of the said publication with a public apology by the News paper within 48 hour of receipt of the court order. He further made the following demands:

1. To know who paid for the advertorial in the Sun Newspaper claiming that he commended Sen. Benedict Ayade, Governor executive Governor of Cross River State
2. An immediate retraction of the said advertorial and a published apology.
3. Payment of 200million Naira damages to his reputation.
He has vowed to sue the paper and their client who paid and concocted the story if the demands are not met within 48 hours.

Recall that social media had gone agog on the Monday 29th May with arguments and counter arguments as to whether or not the Distinguished Prince Otu felicitated the governor during the state's 50 year's Anniversary Celebration and democracy day, marking Ayade's two years in office.

Sen. Bassey who is an APC member, said he is not against the governor nor the state's golden jubilee celebration but he is against the malicious use of his name which he described as a criminal offense, stating that the said publication had caused him much embarrassment, mental stress, physical avoidance and trauma and as a mark of disapproval have received several phone calls from his APC supporters, admirers, and well meaning Cross Riverians anxious to know the truth of the mischief.
