Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie joins Anambra Governorship election

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, who’s the son of veteran movie star Pete Edochie, has announced his plans to contest the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.
The actor made known his intention via an Instagram post on Friday.
Edochie shared a campaign poster with an accompanying caption saying, “We need a new brand of leaders who will put the masses first. The older ones have failed us for too long”.
In a second post, he wrote, “They have come to the last bust stop”.
If indeed Edochie runs, the 35-year-old would be among the young Nigerians veering into a career in politics.
Although his post didn’t mention the party he is affiliated to, the actor would be going against a dozen candidates spread across parties – some of which are Andy Uba and Ifeanyi Ubah
In the last general election, several entertainment personalities expressed desires to run for office.
While Abolore Akande, a.k.a 9ice, unsuccessfully contested for political office, comedian Julius Agwu never pursued his publicised ambition of contesting the Rivers governorship election.
Kate Henshaw, meanwhile, lost at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election.
She had aspired to represent Calabar Municipal/Odukpani at the house of representatives.
Desmond Elliot, actor-director, was one of the few successful entertainers who got elected into office.
He presently represents Surulere 1 constituency at the Lagos state house of assembly.
