Ifere Paul a foremost critic of Governor Benedict Ayade, the
digital governor of Cross River state is at it again. This time Ifere said the
governor cannot feign Ignorance of some flood infested erosion eroded residential
areas along the high way and metropolis of Calabar.
Ifere who took to his facebook handle to express his dissatisfaction
and disappointment in the governor Ayade’s administration’s handling of
sensitive and primary social responsibilities as a government, noted that
Calabar was once a peaceful, clean , green and loving city with good drainage
system with scares erosion cases. He also noted the promptness and agility
previous government responded to the flood and other human disasters when they occurred,
all in a bid to save lives and properties.
But Mr. Paul lamented that ever since the introduction of
this present administration, gutters and drainages are hardly cleared,
incidence of flood have increased.
Residents of
Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar are crying seriously of the negligence by
government inability to come to their aid after the heavy storm that caused the
flash flood all over Calabar weeks ago.
Until now, the
area opposite the Calabar Sport Club is still suffering from serious decay.
Residents are complaining about outbreaks of malaria as breeding grounds for
mosquitoes increases. He said

Paul who have always been blowing his whistle against bad governance in the
state also expressed sad feelings that it was shameful that till now the
government has not cleared the gutters to allow these flood water give these
residents a relief. It is an eyesore right in the center town

Calabar, the Cross River State capital was once a city to reckon
with. It was peaceful, clean, green, and loving. It used to be well drained.
Erosion and flood cases were rare. When the floods occur, the past governments
were responsive enough to lend a helping hand to the the residents who suffers
most.
Ever since
Governor Ben Ayade administration started governing Cross River State, gutters
are hardly cleared, incidences of floods increased,
and residents are not spared the after flood damage.
