Report
reaching TDN has it that the President of the Post-Graduate Students Government (PGSG) of the University
of Calabar, Calabar (UNICAL), Comr. Bassey Williams has allegedly embezzled the
Association’s funds which amounts to the tune of N1.7million.
Bassey’s
government which is barely two months old just after the University management recalled
the two years suspended Association owing to similar reasons has been caught in
the web of financial scandal bordering on misappropriation and embezzlement at
various fronts.
Reports
has it that Bassey, after withdrawing the sum of N1.7m from the Union’s account
with Heritage bank as take off grant, lied to the dean students affairs, Professor
Felix Akpan and other members of the executives council that he withdrew N1.2m
concealing the sum of N500,000 to himself, the Financial Secretary Solomon
Matthew and Treasurer Catherine Agbor.

Don't Fail to be part of this life changing event as God has decided to visit His people. Indeed THIS IS YOUR TIME |
The
N500, 000 was shared amongst the trio with a sharing formula of President N200,
000; Financial Secretary N150, 000 and Treasurer N150, 000. However, but the
Treasurer is denying to be part of the N500, 000. If this is true then it means Bassey must have
withdrawn the excess N500,000 behind the Treasurer after withdrawing the
initial planned N1,200,000m as take off grant.
As
for the N1. 2 million withdrawals for 'take-off grant', the dispensing across
board goes thus TDN has learnt that:

Information
reaching us has it that Dean of Students Affairs Prof. Akpan has waded into the
development particularly demanding that the trio of President, Financial
Secretary and Treasurer return their alleged loot. Albeit, our source has it
that the Dean is exonerating the Financial Secretary for allegedly turning over
his loot, while the President who is yet to is presently sourcing for funds. On
her part, the Treasurer is still insisting that she didn't collect the sum of
N150,000 from the N500,000 for which the Dean has promised to suspend her. Our
correspondent further learnt that the duo of President and Financial Secretary
decided to rope in the Treasurer on the basis of her alleged refusal to collude
in withdrawing additional N1,000,000 (after the first withdrawal of N1,200,000)
for oil-bunkering venture anticipated to rake in N250,000 gain weekly. TDN is
yet to independently confirm majority of the information here.
The
Samuel Uket N.-Led Senate will be seating today Thursday at the Common Lodge of
PGSG (Ali Mungono Republik) over the scandal having summoned some affected EXCO
officers. The president, financial secretary and treasurer have been confirmed
to be summoned.
