Wike Pays Big Cash as PDP plot to Stop Ayade’s re-election in 2019

Unconfirmed rumour has it that the governor of Rivers State Governor Wike has doll out some huge sum of cash to ensure that Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, the Digital governor of Cross river State does not clinch the PDP flag bearer ticket come 2019.

This is unconnected to Ayade’s glaring support for the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the PDP during the battle for the soul of the party at the national level between Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and the Makarfi.

Reports has it that Ayade had been called to order several times by Wike and some powers that be to drop his support for sheriff and come over to the Makarfi’s camp but he paid obstinate ears to those calls.

Other source has it that Ayade could not attend the just conclude PDP non elective congress because he received Intel that there were plans to bounce him out of the venue as his colleagues and some big shots in the PDP are gnashing their teeth at him.

Another source, Nigeria Sparrow has this to say

The Plot to stop the re-election of Governor Ben Ayade in 2019 has taken a new twist as not only the opposition APC is planning to stop  his bid to continue in 2019 but they is now a serious threat from his own ruling People Democratic Party.

Our source reliable informed that major power brokers in the party have agreed to stop Ayade in 2019 and have even zoned the governorship to the South and have fingered former PDP State Chairman and present Chairman Water Board Ntufam Ekpo Okon to fly the party flag in 2019.

Ekpo Okon is said to be Planning to resign his appointment from the Ayade government any moment from now as part of the first shot to be fired.

Leading this onslaught is a former governor who is said to have gotten the nod of the party  National body to source for Ayade replacement ahead of 2019.

The party is said to have not been comfortable with the governor posturing in recent times as Ayade has not shown any commitment to PDP activities giving credence to the rumour that he is planning to defect to the APC.

Another reason given was that the party was not comfortable with h
the governor  popularity rating because of his abysmal performance since he became governor as it will be a huge risk fielding him against a popular candidate from the opposition.

Ayade is also said to have supported the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff faction while the PDP crisis lasted and so the Makarfi group has agreed to punish him for his actions.

The PDP National Exco had planned to dissolved the Cross River State chapter of the party so as to deprive Ayade from having control over the party but were prevailed upon by the shelve the idea as the members of the present Exco do not have the political strength to cause any serious trouble as he still enjoys the loyalty of most of its Executives.
