The President
National Sport for Judiciary, Emeka Ndili has said that Calabar the capital
city of Cross river State has lived up to its name as a hospitality state.
Bar. Ndili made this statement at the closing ceremony of
the National Judiciary Games held in Calabar the state capital. He expressed
delight for a successful competition, noting that this was the best competition
for the past 23 years the competition had existed.
“Well as you can see
by yourself it’s a wonderful competition despite the weather. Calabar has lived up to its name as a
hospitality state we can’t ask for more.
From the state
government and the people of Cross River State, they are wonderful people. I
must confess this is the best competition for the past 23 years of this
competition we are happy to be here.” He said.
He further disclosed to news men that the competition was
forced to a close because of the Muslim Festival billed for 1st
September, So they had to hasten up the event so that Muslim participants can
travel back to meet with their family.
“When we came down
here we discovered that there were other competitions taking place here in
calabar and our brothers from the north, there’s a great feast coming, the Muslim festival that is Sallah. So we had
to hurry up so they can go back and celebrate their sallah with their family.”
He concluded.
Earlier on the State acting chief judge, His Lordship
Justice Micheal Edem had described the game as an excellent competition, expressing
satisfaction in the way and manner participants went about the game with a high
level of professionalism. He said the games went beyond novelty contest to real
contest.
On her part, the state commissioner for information Mrs.
Rosemary Archibong had this to say:
I want to first of all congratulate the Chief Justice of the
Federation Justice Walter Onnoghen and the acting Chief Judge of the state for
in the last 17 years, efforts had been made to host this game and unsuccessful
but for the first time during this tenure this game is held here, I cannot but
fail to applaud the very digital energetic sport loving governor of cross river
state our own dear Sen. Prof Ben Ayade
who made it convenient, who made it conducive for us to witness this week long of
activities.
I want to say that
CRS is a natural place for sporting activities, U. J Esuene stadium has hosted
very many international sporting activities, football matches and having the
judiciary game hosted here is another feather added to us
And I want to thank God that in the last one week everything
had gone very peacefully that shows that.
Cross river state, Calabar is the place to be for tourism,
port tourism and cultural tourism and other kind of tourism.
