NIGERIAN ARMY MISSES OWN DEADLINE TO CAPTURE LEADER OF BOKO HARAM, SHEKAU

|George Odok|3rd August, 2017

The Nigerian Army has missed a self-set 40-day deadline to capture the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, dead or alive.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, handed down the order on July 21 to the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru.

Buratai, tasked Attahiru to employ every weapon available in his arsenal to smoke out Shekau wherever he is hiding in Nigeria.
That deadline elapsed on Thursday, August 31.

Nevertheless, the Nigerian Army should be commended for decimating the sect and liberating all the territories formerly captured by Boko Haram.
