|27  February 2018 | Ukorebi Esien

If one should go by the recent  appointments made by his excellency, the digital Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, Thedailynewsng can confidently report that the state government is set to regulate social media activities in cross River state.

The appointment list of over 200 names which is causing a lot of tension and confusion already has a 8 member committee with the caption social media control supervisors.

Members of the supervisory or control team as the case may be include:

1. Hon. Samuel Ejeoga
2. Emmanuel Oku Owan
3. Patrick Ayuk
4. Michael Ajan
5. Patrick Obi Buturo
6.  James Apeh
7.Chief Patrick Agbeh
8. Emmanuel Abang

Cross Riverians are already wondering what their job description would be and what will be their mode of operation.

Mr. Victor Adaha a self acclaimed social media strategist speculated this way, "Perhaps all of the above, hold meetings with social media influencers, bloggers and relevant stakeholders to constantly inform them of the dangers of hate speech, and keep them abreast with up to date development in government for them to be informed which would translate to the general public being rightly and REGULATEDLY informed."

Kriss Obi a Facebook user postulated that is "worrisome development. When all known names for appointment have been exhausted and there is need,    creativity comes in. How else can a government be creative. Just clap for the ingenuity."

Sampson Etta another Facebook user doubted the possibility of the team achieving its goal which has not been disclosed to the public yet. When he said "He Is Creating Jobs (laffin In Swahili)apart 4rm Zukerberg Can Anyone Control Social Media?Or Hate Speeches?"

What ever Ayade's government wants to do with social media, I just wish them well as I pray they employ the right hands required for the job.
