Nton Bassey Bassey, the Man to Rescue ABC constituency in the Federal House

|8 March 2018 | Prince Charles Ekanem

Mr. Nton Bassey Bassey a model servant leader who hails from Ikot Akriba, Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State is a Geologist and an Entrepreneur by passion, a solution provider whose sterling entrepreneurial acumen shoot him to the oil and gas industry were he thrive in the facility engineering upstream oil sector.

His achievements in life is a pointer in affirmation that his recent aspiration is borne out of a sincere determination to change the living conditions of Cross Riverians especially those in his immediate Federal Constituency.

With the challenges facing his Federal Constituency in mind, in vital areas such as flooding, environmental degradation, public transportation, security, unemployment, strain on existing  physical and social infrastructures,  slums and a massive shortfall in housing, Bassey with his team of visionary young technocrat has remained resilient, dynamic and focused as they develop a blueprint that will set the ball rolling for the emergence of a new form of representation.

Bassey's ambition to contest the Federal Legislative Seat is to make every community in Akpabuyo,  Bakassi and Calabar South (ABC)  economically habitable and curtail rural-urban migration.

The egalitarian Bassey is a firm believer that the green chamber is the peoples' house and there is no better place to serve the people than in the people's home.

Mr Bassey has predominantly warmed himself into global reckoning as an insightful leader. Not many actually gave him much chance of success when he started his businesses in Calabar. Today, barely 8 years after, his journey back to Calabar has invested incredible vision, innovation, time, energy and resources in setting the pace for good governance in the State.

Without doubt, Bassey's  human capacity building programmes has positively transformed the profile of Akpabuyo,  Bakassi and Calabar South (ABC) communities.

As his humanitarian works spreads round the region, so has the people's love and crave for his leadership increased. This love and craving transverse through Atimbo to Ikot Nakanda, Ikot Effiom to Ikang, Orok Orok to Ekpo Abasi, Anantigha to Mbukpa,  Henshaw town to Duke Town.

Such recognitions have come from diverse independent minds who believe Nton is an optimistic enterprising young man who is visionary enough and versatile enough to assist the leadership in the State in bringing to lime light and global recognition those salient  potentials the state is blessed with. With his wide ranch of connections and affiliations, Nton has the capacity to drive developmental challenges in not just his Federal Constituency but into the state at large.

Nton was one of the few who recently kick against the move by some youth who demonstrated to the State House of Assembly to show displeasure against the ambition of Rt Hon Essien Ayi who is planning a fifth term in the National Assembly. Nton who outrightly disagreed with the actions of the youths said Hon. Essien Ayi has the constitutional right to seek to be re- elected while the youths also have the same constitutional right now to re- elect him. That coming out to the street to kick against his re-election bid was not civilised.

As a visionary  leader and Chief Executive, Mr Bassey has attained a reputation that embodies qualities such as technocratic competence, commitment to results and above all integrity which Nigerians often complain are lacking in their leaders.

Bassey has achieved some detectable achievements in terms of creating jobs in his company De-Obabob Investment ( D-Oil) for youths over the years, payment of school fees to some indigenous students of Akpabuyo, humanitarian services to less privilege and human capacity building . He is an advocate of youth inclusiveness in Governance.
