African Vaccination Week: What Dr Betta Edu told Medical Women Association of Nigeria will thrill you.

African Vaccination Week (AVW) is an initiative of the Member States of the African Region aimed at promoting vaccination and ensuring equity and access to its beneficiaries. The initiative has proven to be particularly effective in reaching populations with limited access to regular health services as well as providing an opportunity to integrate other interventions with immunization services.
In Cross River State, the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Prof Ivara Ejemot Esu will be flagging off the week (African Vaccination week and National Immunization Plus days) simultaneously at Cameroonian Refugees Camp in Ikom Local Government Area.
Speaking, DG CRSPHCDA, Dr Betta Edu admonished the new leadership of Medical Women Association of Nigeria Cross River State Chapter and vowed to work with them by involving the association in outreaches, interventions and programs of the Agency as they play a pivotal role in healthcare delivery across the country.
She used the opportunity to officially invite them to be part of the African Vaccination Week and National Immunization Plus days flag-off and activities in Ikom today. Dr Edu appealed for their support in disseminating information and creating awareness about Immunization plus days throughout the period of the exercise.
Responding, the newly elected President of Medical Women Association of Nigeria Cross River State Chapter, Dr. Okoi Obuli assured the Director-General of their maximum cooperation and support throughout and after the exercise.
She noted that Medical Women Association provides quality health services for everyone but with a special emphasizes for women and children, stressing that the Association offers services such as immunization, counseling and cancer screening at the Medical Women Centre in Cross River State School of Nursing, Moore Road.
Dr Obuli pleaded to the Agency to support them with potent immunization vaccines which the DG, Dr Betta Edu promised to make it available for them.
The meeting had in attendance the immediate past President, Dr Ani Nchiewi and their executives, Director of Primary Healthcare, Dr Ana Onebiene, State Mobilization Officer, Mrs Agnes Ogogo amongst others.
