According to a statement made available to TDN, the lawmaker expressed optimism that the yearnings of the "new face" movement will surely yeild positive results as hi is willing to be an effective representative even in a higher capacity.

The Statement reads in Full:

As Cross Riverians and indeed Nigerians all over the world Celebrates 19 years of uninterrupted democracy in the country,  I Hon. Bassey deputy speaker and member representing the good people of Calabar South state constituency, use this momentous opportunity to celebrate The leadership of my Party the PDP, for upholding true democracy in CRS for this past 19 years.

I also want to state that the government of Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, the digital governor of CRS has indeed helped strengthen the values of true democracy as it has in all ramifications brought the government down to the people, making the people have a feel of what democracy should be. His ambitious drive to make governance participatory and inclusive as well as put food on the table of many cannot be over flogged as this same passion has seen him delve into digitalizing the state thus making CRS an enterprise state where dependence on federal allocation will be a thing of the past in the state.

As we take yet another step to further deepen our democracy I want to assure the good people of Cross River State that I am well prepared and willing to further ensure that even the common man on the street is satisfied with the dividends of Democracy.

I use this medium to appreciate all who have believed in our movement and commitment even as we aspire and dare to dive into new waters. The truth remains that we shall always be effective representatives even as we yearn for a new face in higher responsibilities.

Long live PDP
Long live Calabar South
Long live Cross River State.
