What Dr. Sandy said about his aspiration, Wike/Ayade, Old Obubra etc will shock you

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and an aspirant for the central senatorial seat of Cross River state at the red chambers Dr. Sandy Onor has cleared the air on the issues surrounding his aspiration, the agitation of old Obubra extraction of central senatorial district of Cross River state and his relationship with Governors Nyesome Wike and Ben Ayade.

The former two time commissioner of Agriculture and Environment respectively during Liyel Imoke's administration hinted newsmen in his Calabar residence that the rumour that he is banking on his relationship with governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state to clinch the party's ticket is a blackmail and conspiratorial construct meant to de-market him before the leadership of his party.

He argued that he cannot be depending on his friend Wike of Rivers state to win an election in Cross River state when he has paid his due and effectively represented the people of Cross River state in the several leadership capacities he has been opportune to handle.

He further noted that those who are contesting against him are very scared of him for many obvious reasons.
'One they know I am intelligent and I say so with all humility, the facts are there and I am also superior to most of them, in terms of politically experience you can take a look at my profile, my track record is there to speak for me, I am tested and proven'. He alleged.

Governors Wike vs Ayade

Dr. Sandy Onor who is fondly called the original caterpillar by his teeming fans and supporters had this to say concerning his relationship with governors Nyesome Wike and Ben Ayade:

'How can anyone who knows me very well say I am waiting for Wike to make me a senator? How?

In fact, we met as chairmen of the council, while I was deputy national president of ALGON and through my instrumentality, he took over from me as deputy national president while I became acting National President at some point.
And since then I have been running elections and I will run still elections by the grace of God even after Wike leaves office as governor.

So that logic is self-serving, predicated on a blackmail that is meant to tell governor Ayade how can somebody from another state come and make Sandy a senator in your state?

But the governor is too sophisticated
not to understand that leg, he knows its a blackmail.

The governor knows just as they all know that on the ground, in all humility I am the most popular political personality aspiring for the senatorial seat in the central today.

So that idea is clearly a conspiratorial construct meant to de-market me before the leaders of my Party and it has already failed.

Dr. Onor argued that if he was depending on Wike to win his elections why would he be spending so much in campaigns and hitting the ground hard with rigorous campaigns and strategies.

'I am the one who is hitting the ground more than anyone else, if I thought Wike will make me senator, will I be spending my money and carrying out rigorously campaigns. It is only those who are afraid that this time they can't use instrument of oppression against the best material.

And am proud of my relationship with Wike if you think it is easy to go and have one with him...

Those peddling such rumors have forgotten that I also have a relationship with governor Ben Ayade,  the digital governor of Cross River state, Prof. Ayade and I are friends. we are both professorial. So the attempt to blackmail me before him will not work and he has told me so, he said it will not work. He is too sophisticated, too grounded, he needs men of quality to partner with him to change Cross River and he has not hidden that fact. He added.

Old Obubra vs Old Ikom

On the Old Obubra/Old Ikom agitations, Dr. Onor had the following to say:

No logic meant to achieve selfish aims has been as fraudulent as that claim.

The very adjective "old" shows you that the something is obsolete it is antiquated, why will you worry yourself. It's old, it is gone. But seriously speaking the ingredients that made Old Ikom and Old Obubra an issue is no more.

Old Ikom meant one federal constituency, Old Obubra meant another federal constituency. These two pillars made up the central senatorial constituency at that time. Today they are three federal constituencies making up the central and there are Boki/Ikom, Obubra/Etung, and Abi/Yakurr.

So the bases for senatorial sharing had shifted from two federal constituencies to three. When John Owan Enoh became senator last time, it was based on that argument. The leadership emphasized that argument seriously.

Ikom/Boki had done 16 years in the Senate. Victor Ndoma Egba 12 years from Ikom and Matthew Mbu 4 years from Boki. While Obubra/Etung had not done at all, so the Senate should be domicile there.

This obubra we are talking about today shares an intimate political destiny with Etung. It is now a federal constituency. So to even use the concept of old obubra is a huge fraud because Obubra is no longer there at all as far as the political geography of politics in the central is a concern it has no relationship with Yakurr and Abi.

Beyond this, if there's any federal unit/constituency that has benefited far more than others federal constituencies in the central is Abi/Yakkur.

Ebri was governor for 2 years while Liyel became governor for 8 years making it  10 years. And if you subject this 10 years to the principle of evidence being weighed and not counted you will agree with me that 10 years of governorship is far more than 16 years of the senate.

But beyond that, if we look at the ministerial appointments that have come to the central from Liyel's father in the eastern region to Okoi Arikpo, to Okoi Obulu, down to Liyel Imoke himself, and currently Usani Usani except for M. T. Mbu all had been from Abi/Yakurr.

It may be argued that they are not elected offices but like I use to say, they are all called political appointments.

Let me also announce to you that there have never been zoning in the politics of the central Cross River. If there were zoning, Liyel Imoke would not have been a senator with Clement Ebri as a sitting governor,  why will people surmasult on issues that are very obvious. If there were zoning John Enoh will not be a senator, if there were zoning Bassey Ewa would not have gone back to the house of representative for the third time, because by the time Bassey was going Yakurr had done 16 years and Abi had done nothing.

So the point am making is that people use arguments from time to time to advance their personal interest while pretending that their arguments are altruistic and if you are intellectually deficient you will not be able to arrest the fraud that they intend or the selfishness they are invoking in those arguments but by the grace of God we are intellectually sophisticated so we can say to them you are living a lie, that is not true.
We know too much and that is why some people are worried about us.

Cross River is in a position where we need the best in Abuja. The Bakassi crisis came with a shortage in out revenue profile, a decline. We need men that can go to Abuja and by the sheer strength of their character, by their intellectual depths, by their charisma they can have a presence that can attract a lot to Cross River, we don't need men who will just be a statistic. Who will not impact on the floor and who will not be available on the outside. We need proper men, and in all humility, they know the proper men and the original caterpillar movement is putting forward one of the best men you can ever think of and they know so. He concluded
