What is the difference between the cursed PDP and the Blessed APC? - Okoi Ibor

THE APC IS A MISTAKE.

I am not a politician neither am I a member of any of the existing political parties in Nigeria. But I am a citizen, an electorate, a political animal and a critical observer or, if you like, a keen spectator.

For that reason I can confidently state that the present ruling political party in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress, APC, without sentiments or bias, is a mistake. When President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan of the PDP willingly or was coaxed to relinquish political power in 2015 to Mr. M. Buhari, the supposed Messiah of the APC, gullible Nigerians believed, in fact, concluded that the emergence of the APC or Mr. Buhari was the solution to all the problems by which Nigeria has been characterized.

Because the PDP appeared to have been cursed at the time, owing to its actions and inactions, Mr. Buhari and his Party became the hope of most Nigerians, especially as their message was all about change. Though out of desperation Nigerians never bothered to question the kind of change meant. Somehow, Nigerians could be excused for their gullibility. After all if the message of change was preached then, it should have everything to do with transformation, redemption, sanitization and so on, considering the circumstance in which the message was preached. What again should be implied or inferred?

But very sadly, our earlier conclusion that the present ruling political party would be the solution is completely an error, just as what has happened to us is a mistake. I do not think I need to expatiate for anybody to get the point here. We are living witnesses to the present Nigerian misfortune. We, the people, are victims of the present circumstance. We see it; we feel it; we experience it. I know that in every bad situation there are those who gain, and naturally the beneficiaries hardly see anything wrong with the anomaly or misfortune. Therefore, I shall not be surprised if I am crucified for being blunt.

Actually, the recently held 2018 National Convention of the APC has informed this post. The convention was a complete sham, or should I say it was a corruption of the real thing or, better put, a make-believe? Sadly, the convention was characterized by confusion, fight, thuggery, imposition, etc. In fact, aspirants not anointed to occupy certain positions were either compelled or coaxed to withdraw or step down. It was without doubt a corrupt exercise. Yet the APC government is determined to eliminate corruption in the Nigerian socio-political and economic environment with all the arsenals at its disposal.

Arising from the foregoing, therefore, the fundamental question is, what is the difference between the cursed PDP and the blessed APC? Frankly, what has befallen Nigeria at this present time validates or gives credence to the axiom that the devil you know is better than the angel you do not know. I pause here till further notice.
