Crisis looms as Frank Ayade insist on imposing new Provost on CRS college of Education

The Cross River College of Education, Akamkpa, may soon be heading into series of crisis as information reaching our newsroom has it that Dr. Frank Ayade, brother of the digital governor of Cross River state and the alleged co-governor of the state is bent on imposing a lawyer as Provost of the State-owned College of Education.

Our source has it that Frank Ayade is insisting on imposing Dr. James Archibong of the Faculty of law, the University of Calabar as the new Provost of the college. In fact, the source revealed that the Doctor's name has been penciled for the job of the Provost even when he lacks the requisite qualification to contest for such an office.

The college had earlier advertised for openings in respect of the position of the provost. Information reaching TDN has it that there are over 12 applicants currently qualified for the job which the school management is supposed to select from as she appoints her new Provost, but surprisingly Frank Ayade has indicated interest and wants the seat to be given to Dr. Archibong.

Our source can be quoted as saying that "With over 12 applicants for the office, it is startling to imagine why Frank Ayade is insisting on someone who is not qualified as his preferred candidate. Is it because his wife is a student in the faculty of law, UNICAL or is there any other reason unknown to the general public"?

Fillers also has it that academic assistance and favours offered by Dr. Archibong to Frank's wife may not be unconnected to the reason Frank is insisting on compensating the lecturer with that office of a Provost.

Our correspondent also learned that sequel to the peaceful protest that took place two weeks ago against the purported imposition by the co-Governor, all the Chief Lecturers, and the entire College Unions are well armed to resist this primitive act by shutting down the school indefinitely.

Moreover, a cross-section of students leaders have sent a warning to the Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Prof. Benedict Ayade who is himself an academic to avoid the mother of all protest by appointing a qualified Provost to lead them

Recall that Comrade Anthony Bissong Attah, a Senatorial aspirant in Cross River State Central recently resigned from the services of the College citing administrative incompetence and corruption as reasons for his dumping the institution.

In a related development, had reported that there was a lopsided appointment last year at the college.
Where the Commissioner for Education Mr. Goddy Ettah, was implicated in lopsided recruitment exercise in College of Education Akamkpa
