Ibeshi pledges to serve one term as he rolls out 71 pages manifesto during formal declaration

Emmanuel Ibeshi, a former National Publicity Secretary of the People's Democratic Party has pledged to serve a four year period of one term to complete the two terms of Northern Cross River Senatorial District under the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP); a precedence already benefited by South and Central Senatorial Districts respectively in keeping with the zoning arrangement designed by the leaders of the Party. Thedailynewsng.com can affirm.

Ibeshi made the pledge on Saturday at Transcop Hotel Calabar while formally declaring his ambition to contest the governorship election in Cross River state cone 2019 general election.

Ibeshi who decried the state of affairs the state is currently experiencing under the Ayade's administration, rolled out a 71 page document as his campaign mantra, a blue print which he said will guide him while in office with the agenda of returning the state back to where it was supposed to be.

His words, "the projects established by the duo of Donald Duke and Liyel Imoke are fresh in our minds. And, I ask: is it not painful that in just three years, we have almost lost all that these two distinguished sons of the state worked so tirelessly to build in 16 years put together? I don't think posterity will forgive us if we let the gains of those 16 years go to ruin as it is clearly the case now. Outside of these projects, our youth have never been idle, with no hope, no motivation, and no entrepreneurial skills to hold unto."

He said if given the opportunity and elected into office as governor, he was "not out to make promises of gigantic projects horridly conceptualized that are dead on arrival; rather, he will prefer to be remembered as the governor who ensured that existing projects become viable and completed the uncompleted ones. The governor who paid attention to fixing little things that matter to the common man. That is my promise to you and it shall be so".

He further maintained, if voted in has governor, his government will complete, actualize and activate all projects initiated and established by our very visionary governors, Donald Duke and Senator Liyel Imoke; because these projects have everything the state requires to make it great, self-sustaining and self-reliant. He went on to say that his focus, therefore, shall be to complete and actualize these projects, from agriculture, to access roads – especially rural roads, to health, to education, to support for traditional institutions, to women empowerment, to tourism and so on."

"With such exotic tourist sites and projects as the Obudu Ranch Resort, the Afi Mountain, the Agbokim Water Fall, the Tinapa Business and Leisure Resort, New Yam Festivals, Leboku and many more then you realize that we have lost it in the last three years. In simple words, I shall initiate Tinapa Phase 2, Obudu Ranch Resort Phase 2, Entrepreneurship Development Phase 1," he promised.

Ibeshi further promised that if elected, he "will promote regular town hall meetings for citizens to meet their Councilors, Local Government Chairmen, House of Assembly Members, Governor and the National Assembly Members for accountability through briefings and needs assessment."

These will be the third attempt of Ibeshi at the governorship seat of the state having attempted at it first in 2007 and second time in 2015.

The incumbent governor, Prof. Ben Ayade is also of the PDP and has expressed interest to seek a second term in office.
