A foremost Christian Leader and Bishop of the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity Anglican Communion, Calabar Cross River State His Grace, Most Rev. Tunde Adeleye, has said that Nigeria as a country is sick and our leaders have derailed.

The clergy who made this known to newsmen in a press briefing in Calabar said Nigeria is deeply sick and is failing in her responsibilities as a nation. He stressed that the foundation upon which our past leaders built the country has decayed under our feet.

He went further to say that should any of our past leaders in the likes of Sir, Ahmadu Bello, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, etc wake up from their graves today, they will prefer to die again.

The Bishop went on to list over 30 ills that have destroyed Nigeria which must be urgently attended to. The vocal Bishop listed corruption, as one of the major killers of the nation, stating that the country's leadership is antagonistic, displaying a high level of hatred, desperate and defying all known rule of law in his fight against corruption.

Bishop Adeleye went on to say that the All Progressive Congress, APC led Federal Government’s fight against corruption is corrupt in itself.

In his words;
"No democracy, no rule of law, is it not corruption to disobey court orders? Is it not corruption that a whole set of ministers and the rest are from a particular part of the country? Which is a greater corruption? Who is deceiving who? The corruption in Nigeria is Corrupt, the people that are fighting corruption are corrupt, and the corruption they are fighting is corrupt, so everything is corrupt".

The Arch Bishop-elect of Niger Delta, further accused the president of negligence and incompetence stating that since assumption of office, President Buhari has not provided any solution to the many problems of Nigerians.

Which one problem have we ever told our head of state and he gave a solution to? The head of state has never answered or given a solution to any problem in this country”. He queried.

“I pity some of his media aides who are just talking as overfed babies. You see people that were slim yesterday; they now have robust cheeks and are now talking anyhow”. He said.

The man of God went ahead to state that true Federalism, State Policing, Resource control by states, Separation of power, Prayers by Christians among others listed items are the solutions to Nigerian’s incessant problems.
