Obudu Rerun: Appointees perfect strategy for easy victory for PDP

Political appointees from the Obudu state constituency in the Cross-River state are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has a smooth ride to victory in the upcoming Obudu constituency rerun. The election is slated for Saturday the 11th of August, 2018. The seat became vacant due to the death of the honorable member representing the constituency,  Mr. Stephen Akomaye Ukpukpen, who recently collapsed and died.

Political appointees from the area under the government of Professor Ayade led by Mr. Victor Agwu, the Commissioner for Special Duties said they have perfected strategy to give the PDP a landslide victory. Mr. Agwu said that the election is of utmost importance as that is the home base of the governor. In his words, "His Excellency has done a lot for the state and the constituency in particular. His good works are glaring and will rub off on the party in this election."  Agwu explained further that despite this, "We are not resting on our oars. We know the propensity of the opposition for electoral mischief. So we must not allow the wonderful works of His Excellency to be rubbished by some opportunistic politicians who have nothing to offer the people."

The election becomes more crucial taking into consideration the recent defections and counter defections across the major parties. Mr. Agwu noted that Cross River is a PDP state and it will remain PDP contrary to insinuation in some quarters that the governor wanted to decamp to the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Mr. Agwu who spoke said his group has, therefore, come together to prove to the opposition through this rerun that in 2019 Cross-River State will be a no-go-area for other parties.  To this end,  He said they also decided to take the election upon themselves so as to allow the governor to concentrate on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the state unencumbered.

Political observers agree that with the numerous life-changing projects of the erudite professor-turned politician in the last three years as governor of the state, a victory for any other party except the PDP in the rerun election as well as in the 2019 general elections will be virtually impossible.
