2019: Nya Asuquo steps down, adopts Owan Enoh for governor of C’ River

CALABAR- ETUBOM  Nya Asuquo,  Nigeria's Ambassador to Uganda has jettisoned his ambition to govern Cross River State in 2019 and instead adopted  Senator John Owan, the Senator representing the central district of the  state as his choice for the race on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC,

NYa Asuquo  who made this known on Wednesday in Calabar while addressing newsmen and supporters at his Etaval Hotel  said he decided to give up the campaign for the governorship of  the state after  a careful analysis of the political situation  and coming to the conclusion that Owan Enoh is the appropriate person for the job.

"It is a question of having to choose between  two things and after serious thinking, my friends and I decided that I should continue doing what I am doing by working for the President as an ambassador that is reason I am no longer contesting for the position of governor of the state".

The seventy years old APC chieftain said his decision to support   Owan Enoh is based on the fact that he has been passionate in working for the welfare of the people even when he is elected as a legislator he always stood for the good of the people.

'Senator Owan Enoh is not unaware that the people see everyone in public office as the symbol of government so in spite of the relative disadvantage of functioning in the legislative arm, he literally moves mountains to a large extent to satisfy the yearning and aspirations of his constituents such a figure needs a higher platform to better the lot of more people". Asuquo stated.

He said Owan Enoh sees public office as a vehicle of social engineering and opportunity to make the difference in the society and  in that regard, the people of the state have to give him massive support as he aspires to govern the state in 2019.

Ambassador Nya Asuquo said 2019 election would herald a new Nigeria therefore only   men and women of strong conviction, strong moral character and people who are prepared to toil for others should be elected into positions of responsibility.

"The distinctive quality of  the coming political dispensation gives hope that in spite of our failings as a people, in spite of our missed opportunities, there is still hope for a new prosperous Nigeria in the coming political era".

He said after a careful study of the political situation in the country, he is convinced that  the success of the APC government at the federal level led by President Mohammadu Buhari is unparallel in the history of Nigeria.

"The good news I want o bring o you today is that arising from that success, I hereby can proclaim that Cross River State will become an APC State come 2019".
He announced his support for Senator Bassey Otu for Senate, to repressnt the southern district of the state, Mr Bassey Akiba for House of Represenaives representing the Calabar Municipality/Odukpani constituency and Bassey Asuquo for State House of Asembly for Odukpani state constituency.
