High Chief Professor Eyo Etim Nyong has said that better days awaits pensioners in Cross River State as he promised to look into the prompt payment of pensions and gratuities of senior citizens of  Cross River State Public service when he becomes the Governor.

According to him, the APC-led Federal Government has been very compassionate by providing huge sum of money to the states for payment of pension and gratuity arrears, but unfortunately the PDP led state government has not been able to pay pension regularly, let alone gratuity.

He lamented the untold hardship and frustration this situation has caused this group of elderly citizens whose dignity and self esteem has been eroded by poverty.

The former NDDC boss therefore reiterated his desire to carry out reforms of the state government pension and gratuity to ensure that retirees are paid their retirement benefits promptly.

He stated this during his formal declaration for Governor of Cross River State on the 1st of Sept, 2018 at the cultural centre, Calabar.
The event was well attended by party faithfuls.

High chief Prof. Eyo Etim Nyong has been duped to be the man to beat in the forthcoming APC primaries and in the general elections as many party faithful believe he stands tall among other aspirants and will give the incumbent governor a tough fight in the field, especially in the south where over 50% of the entire votes in the state is domicile.
