Developing story...

According to information made available to our newsroom, it is alleged that the sudden change in mind to discontinue his ambition to run for the office of the number one citizen of Cross River State by PDP's former gubernatorial aspirant, Dr. Paul Udayi may not be unconnected with some shady deals that saw large chuncks of money in the region of N50 million exchanging hands.

According to an impeccable party source, 'as soon as news went out that Dr. Udayi had decided to run the gubernatorial race under the Young Progressive Party's platform, he was called for negotiation and a lot of things happened there after'.

A stalwart of the Young Progressive Party in Cross River State revealed to TDN that the sole aim of Udayi indicating interest to join the party was nothing else but to exploit Governor Ben Ayade who rumour has it that, is ready to do anything to run the gubernatorial race unchallenged.

Speaking with our correspondent in a telephone conversation a party chieftain, who wishes to remain anonymous for now, said 'He (Udayi) actually wanted to use our party to make money from Ayade, Although he did, but we didn't allow him to get the two.
He wanted the party's platform to achieve his ambition and also to exploit Ayade.'

The party stalwart who is a foundation member of YPP in Cross River State disclosed that he and other members of the party stood their grounds to fight the ill motivated actions of their supposed gubernatorial candidate as they took their case to the national body of the party.

"So we had to raise alarm to the national. Because, just the post that he picked our party form, they gave him money, I heard he was given between 20 - 50 million Naira by Ayade and he initiated a reconciliation move with him. They also wanted to block us from filling in another person'. The party chieftain revealed.

'I raised alarm at the national and threatened that we can't accept him as our party's flag bearer and on that bases, we kept talking to the national until he was finally withdrawn.

We also insisted that if they file him, I will personally sue him to court  because he is not a member of the party.

The party asked him to go to Obudu and formally decamp from PDP first and then declare his governorship ambition in the party.

'So in cause of doing all those things they (Ayade) were lobbying him so when he got the money from them, the agreement with them was that he was to pick our party's ticket and act as a front man for Ayade and then finally sell out for him, when we discovered this, we had to shot him out.

Getting across to Dr. Paul Udayi has been an uphill task, but be certain that TDN will surely bring his reactions your way as soon as we get through him.
