PDP Senatorial Primary: Agara blows hot, calls Ayade, Imoke, others "ungrateful triumvirate"

Barr Chris Agara, a senatorial hopeful whose hope was dashed during the just concluded central senatorial district primary elections of the People's Democratic Party, has issued a press release where he threatened to leave the party if some set of conditions are not met.

According to the statement, Agara said the act of delebrately dropping of names, selective clearance and the clandenstinly implementation of automatic ticket amongst others as witnessed in the just concluded PDP senatorial primary have deliberately inflicted mortal wounds on the members of PDP in Cross River State.

The business mogul- turned politician also added that the act only reminds him of the grave price PDP paid in 2015 as a consequence of this self-same impunity, denial of the right to fair contest, and conferment of black-market illegibility on already cleared aspirants.

The statement reads in full:

CHRIS AGARA SENATE 2019 CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION (Team Capacity)

PRESS RELEASE

The Chris Agara Senate 2019 Campaign Organization "Team Capacity" hereby REJECT in its entirety, the events preparatory to the false primaries for Cross River Central Senatorial District. Unfortunately, these events continue to REMIND us of the grave price PDP paid in 2015 as a consequence of this self-same impunity, denial of the right to fair contest, and conferment of black-market illegibility on already cleared aspirants

It is common knowledge that Sen. Liyel Imoke and Prof. Ben Ayade (Governor of Cross River State) with the active connivance of the Uche Secondus-led National Executive Committee of the Party have deliberately inflicted mortal wounds on the members of PDP in Cross River State. This insensitive and ungrateful triumvirate has embarked on the following:

a. Deliberate refusal to allow interested and qualified party members to pursue their legitimate aspirations to elective offices.

b. Selective 'clearing' and 'unclearing' of particular aspirants to suit the whims and caprices of the triumvirate.

c. Deliberate dropping of names of very qualified aspirants in the morning of the party primaries, even after clearance and issuance of Clearance Certificate, in order to pave the way for their favoured mediocres, based on political God-fatherism.

d. Continuous and unbridled display of institutional insensitivity and high handedness by refusing to provide a level-playing field for the contest of
party primaries

e. Clandestinely executing the 'automatic ticket' conspiracy in total disregard to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999 as amended) and the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.

Arising from the forgoing, therefore, we the members of Team Capacity, together with hundreds of thousands of our followers across the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State do hereby state as follows:

1. That we reject in its totality this afront on our wellbeing and fair
participation in the electoral processes and activities of our Party.

2. That we demand an immediate reversal of the aforementioned decision so that all other qualified aspirants be cleared and party primaries rescheduled unconditionally.

3. That Barr. Chris Agara who had earlier been cleared and issued with Clearance Certificate, should have his name re-instated in the List of Cleared Aspirants, and be allowed to contest the Senatorial primary election.

4. The leadership of our Party should be reminded that the era of political confinement and lack of alternatives is over. The thoroughly bruised people of Central Senatorial District who are even now gnashing their teeth in
agony may not continue to follow the obnoxious machinations of the Party like a herd of cows, any longer.

5. We do hereby serve notice of a massive wave of defection with our hundreds of thousands of supporters to more welcoming political platforms if the
above conditions are not met within 48 hours.

6. We shall serve no further notice on this matter.

Chief Barr. Chris Agara
PDP Senatorial Aspirant, Central Senatorial District of Cross River State, Nigeria

Recall that Barr. Chris Agara's name was removed from the list of cleared aspirants after being cleared and issued certificate of clearance.
