CRSG solicits cooperation of residents of Iso Ekpo to restore Gully erosion

Governor Ben Ayade has directed the ministry of environment, to restore the gully erosion site at Iso Ekpo street at Ikot Ansa axis of Calabar Municipality.

On tour to assess the gully erosion and monitor the state of evacuation of waste from the site,the commissioner of environment, Engineer Mike Eraye,lamented that the gully developed over a 10 years period,noting that gully is threatening adjacent properties and it has also become a dump site for residents who live around the area.

To this end, Eraye stated "to avert the threat to lives and properties, the state government through the ministry of environment is intervening to recover the land, abate the nuisance of the gully threat and restore the aesthetics at the end of the day and a control channel will be created at Iso Ekpo to evacuate storm water.

The commissioner also disclosed that the residents will be provided with alternative solid waste dump site. According to him this is with a view to control indiscriminate dumping of waste.

On the importance of the project, Eraye said the multiple effects is that the  health of the people around the area will be restored and aesthetics of the neighborhood will be restored.
