2019: We'll continue to stand by Sen. Owan-Enoh for governor, 15 political parties insist

The Coalition of Owan Friends of Political Parties and Groups (COFOPPAG) has reinstated their support for the earlier adoption of Sen. John Owan-Enoh as their governorship candidate in the 2019 polls in Cross River State.

This is coming after the People's Democratic Party in the state had described their earlier adoption of the APC candidate as "a ruse and biggest scam of 2019.

But, in a release issued in Calabar and signed by the Coordinating Chairman of COFOPPAG, Mr Fred Omari and its Executive Secretary, Engr. P. N Nkom, the group maintain that the 15 political parties that adopted Owan-Enoh would continue to stand behind him no matter the intimidation.

"Since the news of over 15 political parties adopting APC guber candidate, Sen. John Owan-Enoh, hits the media, they has been series of reactions especially from the PDP, claiming it was a ruse.

"Well, we stand by our story because PDP in the state had always denied everything including denying Crossriverians water, food, roads, electricity and employment.

"That we are aware that Gov. Ayade is making subterranean moves to buy over some of the guber candidates and political parties to adopt him too. In fact, he is planning to pay 40 political parties without guber candidate or structures.

"The PDP media campaign team should concentrate their energy on how to sell their boss rather than engaging in mudslinging and reactionary campaign.

"Their claim of not losing sleep is ironical as the party is already panicking following the adoption. That we the political parties with the guber candidate that adopted Owan-Enoh still remain 15.

The group further said that contrary to the alleged withdrawal of 8 political parties, the coalition has been strengthened with an additional guber candidate, Engr. Michael Johnson of Restoration Party of Nigeria and more are expected because of the wider acceptance of Owan-Enoh based on his antecedent.

The group urged Crossriverians to disregard the stock in trade of the PDP, saying that the PDP has a penchant for media warfare which is as a sign of failure and frustration.

COFOPPAG advised the PDP to look inwards and address their already battered image in which no amount of apology to the citizens by their members will wriggle them out of their irreversible mess that has plunged the state into abject poverty, disunity and slavery.

The group maintained that Owan-Enoh remains the best option for Crossriverians if they must exit from the government of the family, by the family and for the family of Ayade.
