The claimed adoption of Sen Owan Enoh by 15 political parties is a scam of the highest order- SA Inter-party

07 January, 2019 | Ukorebi

Mr. Austine Ibok, Special Adviser to governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has condemned in totality the recent claimed adoption of the APC gubernatorial candidate, Sen John Owan Enoh by some political parties in the state as their consensus candidate describing it as a failed attempt to attract the governor's attention.

The inter party umpire made this known in a press release made available to The Daily News Nig (TDN). According to Mr. Ibok, the parties who claimed to have adopted the APC guber candidate are made up of disgruntled elements who originally filed themselves as guber candidate of their invisible parties with the hope that the fall outs in PDP or APC during the primary elections would favour them as they had thought  agrieved aspirants would find solace to run under their parties.

Ibok explained that most of the persons in the said adoption meeting were not the original party chairmen as most of them where hired to represent the Parties while others are ex party chairmen who came in as importers. He disclosed that the scam that took place at Jorany Hotel not the 3rd of January, 2019 is an afterthought of some displaced politicians who are trying so hard to gain their footings thinking such act of shame will attractin the governor's attention.

Mr. Ibok further revealed that the only recognized bodies of coalitions of parties whose adoption of candidates is capable of sending signals to any opposition in the state are the Inter-party Advisory Council (IPAC), Conference of Nigerian Political Parties(CNPP), Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) and Cross River State Political Parties Forum.

The statement reads in Parts:

It's has come to our knowledge that some persons under a kangaroo group called Coalition of Owan Friends of Political Parties and Groups have purportedly gone to endorse Sen Owan as their consensus Governorship candidates in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Cross River State.

Such an act would ordinary not be an issue and would have been over looked or even taken for granted, but on a second thought, as the SA to the governor on inter party affairs, who is directly responsible for the unity and interfacing with political parties in the state, its pertinent, I enlighten the generality of the public on what this element have done so guileble members of the public will be careful how they relate with these set of persons as and they strategise to get Governor Ayade's attention to call them for a discussion. let it be known to them that they have failed because we won't allow that happen.

It will be recalled that these persons had filed their names with INEC as respective governorship candidate of their parties with the expectations that there will be a  fall out in PDP or APC after the governorship primaries so that dissatisfied aspirants from both PDP or APC can patronise their platform to actualize their aspirations. While on the other hand, they can use it negotiates with whoever willing to fall into their cheap blackmail..

Let it be on record that the only recognised bodies to be use in such cases if they must be adoption of any candidates are
1) IPAC
2) CNPP
3) CUPP
4) CRS Political Parties Forum

It is on this note that I want use this medium to inform Cross Riverians and Nigerians alike that there is no such group of political parties known as Coalition of Owan Friends of Political Parties and Groups.

In a related development, the secretary of Inter-party Advisory Conference, Mr. Castro Ezama, had disclosed that most of the said persons or who attended the claimed adoption meeting did that behind their party chairmen and that before any adoption of candidate takes place, it has to be discussed both within the party and the National Working Committee of the party must give approval.

He revealed that in this case, that was not followed by most of the parties represented there as about eight of the parties will soon release their circulars disassociating themselves from the scam that took place on the 3rd of January.
