ASD House of Assembly candidate escapes assassination attempt in Calabar

By Ukorebi Esien

The Alliance of Social Democrats (ASD) House of Assembly candidate for Calabar Municipality Local Government Area, Comrade Etta Agbo Edim last Sunday narrowly escaped being killed by some unidentified hooligans who invaded his Calabar residence.

According to the legislative hopeful, his residence was invaded Sunday when he and his family had gone to church with several of his belongings carted away.

Comrade Agbo told TDN that he believed the attack on his residence was politically motivated due to his tenacity in the race and the positive waves he is pulling  as well as acceptability he is currently enjoying from electorates who are desperately desiring a change of representative since their current representative in the 8th Cross River State Assembly is nothing to write home about.

Comrade Etta Agbo who had since begun his consultations and campaigns among his kindred and electorates within his constituency has been tipped to be the candidate to beat in the forthcoming House of Assembly elections in Calabar Municipality.

The former appointee who resigned from the Ben Ayade's led administration to contest for the legislative office said he decided to run under ASD after his former party the PDP denied him ticket due to the party's politics of imposition of candidates. He said in ASD, he has experienced true democracy and transparency. He further disclosed that if Cross Riverians embrace the ideals embedded in the ideologies of the ASD the state will experience exponential growth. He made it known that as a house member when voted into office, he will surely operate an open door policy as he will welcome ideas and innovations that will move the constituency forward as well as establish constituents with relevant and meaningful means of livelihood.
