The House of Assembly candidate for Calabar South11 Constituency under the People's Democratic Party and current deputy speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey, yesterday informed some members of his constituency of his intention to kick start his campaign in earnest.

Speaking to a group of friends under the aegis of Special Friends of Papa at his constituency office, in Calabar South, Mr. Bassey said as he kicks off his campaign, there's nothing new to tell his beloved constituents because they all know him and what he stands for.

He went on to inform that his outing to all the wards under his constituency will just be another opportunity to thank constituents for always being around and supporting him as well and refresh their hope that the best is yet to come.

Earlier, the group, Special Friends of Papa had donated 3000 copies of branded exercise books to the young politician to use as part of his campaign materials. While handing over the books to Rt. Hon. Bassey, the coordinator of the group Mr. Charles said members of the group are very  committed believers in the Believe project of the honorable member and as such decided to support his rejection bid with 3000 copies of branded exercise books, believing so much that Papa's reelection will further attract more dividends of Democracy to the people of Calabar South 2 constituency.

Mr. Charles also  revealed that the kind gesture to the deputy speaker was a result of the value he has added to the lives of constituents.

In his words:
Papa has helped us a lot, by giving us political appointments which has further reduced poverty and unemployment, he has also given given assistance in form of empowerment to many constituents and the less privileged in the constituency.

"Our coming here today is to show appreciation and tell him thank you as we support his reelection bid with this token of 3000 copies of branded exercise books".

While taking delivery of the books, Rt. Hon. Bassey, appreciated the group for such a surprised gesture, saying that he hardly gets gifts from people and was happy to receive one today. He went on to say that Tue exercise books will be meaningful to students in the constituency.
