"We need a governor that will work for us not bribe us"- Eyo Ekpo to electorates as Campaign trail hits Southern Cross

The gubernatorial campaign trail of Barr Eyo Ekpo yesterday was welcomed by a sea of crowd at the African Field, White House in Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State.

This is coming as the campaign organization embarked on a campaign rally in three of the seven Local Government Areas that makes up the Southern Senatorial district of the state.

During the rally, which started fom Bakassi, down to Akpabuyo before terminating at Calabar South, the Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Barr. Eyo Ekpo told electorates that it was time they took a decision to vote for posterity and put an end to bad governance in Cross River state.

He enjoined the people not to place money before their conscience as they cast their vote during the gubernatorial and State House of Assembly polls, stating that he is fully aware of the plans by the incumbent governor, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade to before the elections come with money to buy their votes, he advised them not to be carried away by such fraudulent and deceitful gifts, but collect the gift and go ahead to vote for the SDP.

"We know before elections comes Ayade will come and throw money around when he comes collect the money and know that you will not see him again for the next four years, so I will advise that we collect his money, because it is not his money, it is our money that he stole".

"What is the need of stealing the people's money to buy their votes when, you could easily get their votes by using the money to provide their basic needs?" Ekpo questioned.

"What we need is not a governor that will bribe is but a governor that will work for us. Let us remember our future as we vote on the 9th of March. We should not throw our future away because of N500. Vote for SDP that is the party that will use your money and work for you". He said.

He however, advised the teeming crowd to vote for a government who is prepared to provide jobs so that young persons can earn a descent life while making honest monies instead of engaging in kidnapping and militancy.

In his words, "We need simple honest jobs that we can earned earnest money. we are bringing a government that will bring good jobs".

Finally, Mr Eyo revealed that the present government has forgotten about the people and the community have been forgotten while he encouraged them to vote for the SDP candidates in the forthcoming elections in the persons of Dr Eddie Hogan the House of Assembly candidate for Akpabuyo State Constituency and himself, for Governorship.

His words, 'If you're not anybody that comes through Ben Ayade or Frank Ayade, you are nobody. And the rest of us here they forget about us.

'The problem is a very simple one. We don't have a government that cares for the people. How many of us today in 2019 are better than we were in 2015? Very few, nobody! How many of us in Cross River State today standing here are better than we were in 2007. Nobody!

'What we need is a government that cares for people, a government that knows what to do. A government that will not take your money —the little money that we have and go away.

In another development, as part of the Eyo Ekpo campaign team's drive to consolidate their plans of unseating the Ayade's government, the Akpabuyo chapter of African Democracy(ADC) has said it was prepared to work for the success of Eyo Ekpo at the polls come 9th of March. This was said in Akpabuyo Thursday when the campaign trail had a brief stop over to meet with the party's leadership. However concrete arrangement where not made as it was agrees by both parties that another meeting will be fixed to cement their new found romance.
