Ayade FC to represent C'River at FA Cup after thrashing Hope of Glory FC 3-0

Ben Ayade Football Club recently activated by the Orok Duke led sports commission have lately been making giant strides in the Nigerian Football League. Having recently scaled into the division one cadre of the nation's football league.
Yesterday, 23rd April 2019 saw the Ben Ayade football club trashing the supposed Federation Cup defending champions in the state - Hope of Glory  FC 3 - 0 to qualify for the finals of this year's FA Cup qualifiers.

At the end of the game which saw an impressive performance by the Ayade boys in the second half, the coach of the team told press men that the secret behind the team's continues victory is hard work, perseverance and team spirit. He particularly noted that he had inspired the boys for this game telling them the implication and the cost of losing the match.

The coach who believes the boys will put up an impressive performance during  the Federation Cup play off at the national, said for now they are prepared and ready to face the new season, although he admitted that little work is still needed to be done in his midfield and attack.

While addressing news men, the Chairman of the Cross River State Sports Commission, Rt. Hon. Orok Otu Duke expressed dissatisfaction with the performance displayed by the boys.
Orok said this being the first important match played by the team, he expected a more impressive outing than what was displayed by the boys.

"They just finished recruitment, this is the first important match they've played, so it's still work in progress, but I am not impressed because we still have some lacuna in the midfield and attack ...I believe this has to do with fitness, because as you can see, they have the skills. You should also know that we just brought up this team". He noted.

On what he thinks the teams performance will be in the play off of the Federation Cup, Chief Orok Duke said although the team still have fitness issues to deal with, but everyone should know they are a new team and thus the commission is not solely depending on them as they are other teams in various other sports representing the state.

"We own all teams representing the state, be it Rovers, Linda Ayade, Pelican or Ayade FC, we superitend  over 43 other sports. You should know that we just brought up this team, the sentiment is just that Ayade FC was created by this present commission. But we can't lean too much towards Ayade FC, we should be able to give a part of us to other teams representing the state". He said.

On his part, the Cross River State FA Vice Chairman, Gregory Abang, said Last year the state failed to file in clubs to represent the state in the FA Cup due to some registration issues, but this year, is different as they are more teams representing the state.

"The match of today showed good play and team spirit so with what we saw this evening we are sure we have one good team to represent the state.

The two teams that will be representing us will definitely go far in the Aiteo Cup proper because both teams have been preparing seriously and they are not match rusty, they are highly motivated and ready to take on any opponent".

The second part of the semi finals for the FA Cup qualifiers will take place Wednesday, 24th April by 3pm at the U. J Esuene stadium in Calabar.

The match which will be between Diamond FC and Rovers FC will have the winner join join Ayade FC to represent the state in the National competition after a final must have been played in Calabar to determine the defending champion.
