Betta Edu sues for Peace in Abi, receives Representative Democracy Award

CALABAR - The immediate past Director General of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Betta Edu has called on communities in Abi Local Government Area to ensure peace is restored in the Local Government Area adding that peace is strong requisite for the development of any community. 

Addressing a cross section of Leaders from Egbezum village of Ebom in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River state, Dr. Edu informed that when peace is restored in Abi, the Local government will experience great development. She therefore called on the leaders to see to it that the various crisis on going is in their communities are put to rest.


"In Abi, we are one and if we can work together we can achieve more, if we follow peace and sue for peace, we will have more development come to Abi". She noted.



Dr. Edu who was honored with an award for the role she played in ensuring an Egbezum son, Dr. Davies Ettah, emerged as the house member representing Abi in the 9th Cross River State House of Assembly said the award is a huge honor she won't take for granted even as she prays for more opportunities to serve and serve humanity.



Betta also used the opportunity to  call on members of Egbezum community in particular and Abi LGA in general to continuously support the government of his excellency, Sen. (Prof.) Ben Ayade governor of Cross River State as well as give Hon. Dr. Davies Ettah, member representing Abi in the CRSHA the needed support and encouragement to excel in office, she went on to advice that less criticism and more support for leaders will yield better progress and results. 



 "I am grateful to God that we had victory in the last elections, Hon. Davies know that I am all out to ensure that he succeeds. I want to plead that we continue to support His Excellency, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade. 

...leadership is not easy, but if we have strong hearts, strong men and women behind leaders, leaders tend to do well. Hon. Dr. Davies is our brother and we are very sure that he will do well, but please am asking that we support him and criticise him less, give him an opportunity to try, give him an opportunity to earn your love or earn your hate, lets see him as our own". She concluded. 


Speaking earlier, the chairman of Ebgezum Traditional Council, High Chief Orji Prince said the council thought it wise to appreciate Dr. Mrs. Betta Edu and other political leaders who stood by them to ensure the emergence of their son, Hon. Davies Ettah as member of the 9th Cross River State House of Assembly in the just concluded elections. 

He went on to implore the awardees to continually stand by Dr. Davis Etta as well as counsel, advise and call him to order when need arises.


Others awarded by the Egbezum Traditional Council include Hon. Francis Ettah, immediate past commissioner for International Development, Hon. Francis Ajah, Immediate past SA debt management, Hon. Farathor Robinson and Dr. Mrs. Ekama Awara.
