Don’t rope C’Riverians in your personal umbrage with the governor, CNPP, others warn critics

25th July 2019 Ukorebi Esien

The leadership of Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP, Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC and the Forum of Governorship Candidate 2019, FGC, has called on all Cross Riverians to give the governor of the state Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade the needed support to move the state forward while calling on critics to handle their personal grievances with the governor at personal level and stop roping the entire state into their personal squabbles.

This position was made known in a press briefing in Calabar where the leadership of CNPP renewed their commitment and support to the administration of Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade. According to Mr. Sunday Michael, Chairman of CNPP in Cross River state, the governor has barely completed 100 days in office and people have started casting aspersions on him, "…Instead of coming out collectively to build our state, people are busy castigating…"

"We don't want anybody to hide under the altar of politics to keep on disuniting our people. Instead of coming out collectively to build our state, people are busy castigating, we want to make clear that our support for the governor is a genuine one and we will continue to support him, but if we notice anything that is inconsistent and we feel is anti-people, we will come out, we all know that we had previously criticized the governor on where we saw he didn't do well, we therefore, fervently call on all Cross Riverian and prevail on them to see the CRS project as a duty where the see the need to criticize they should do that constructively.

While urging Cross Riverians to unite their support for Governor Ben Ayade's government, Mr. Sunday said Unity will fast track the dividends of democracy on the people. Furthermore, he, however, called on the governor to have a listening hear on the plight and needs of Cross Riverians

"When we work together we will see the dividends of democracy evident in the lives of our people, but when we don't work together and we keep on casting aspersion when there is no need for that we will not move our state to where we want it. Anybody who has personal grudges against the governor or against anybody should handle it at a personal level.
"We also urge his excellency Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade to keep his ears, open to suggestions to all Cross Rivrians of goodwill". He pleaded.

Sunday, who informed that four the span of four the governor had not borrowed stating that, borrowing is healthy but the state is insolvent and as such could not borrow. He said it is disheartening to note that people who should have known better are busy making unfounded allegations and unguided utterances. He revealed that as a body of different opposition parties, they had to make their personal investigations and having Consulted relevant government bodies and were duly informed that the state is yet to borrow due to her insolvency.

"Every administration borrows, borrowing is healthy, CNPP's extensive investigations which cover the Debt Management Office, DMO, The Security and Exchange Commission, SEC, Federal Ministry of Finance and few other notable agencies indicates that Cross River State is already insolvent and so could not have borrowed from anywhere. whoever alleges borrowing may need to attach a notice to his claim". He said.

"The CNPP Cross River State, therefore continues to pledge unalloyed loyalty and support to the government of Cross River State under the able leadership of his excellency Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade and his deputy and we also want to pledge our support to the newly elected 9th Cross River State House of Assembly, we will continue to engage them to make sure that whatever laws and policies they will be making will be pro-people. it is only in this way that Cross River State will move forward". He concluded.
