C'River IPMAN leadership crisis thickens as another national faction recognize Robert Obi as state chairman

According to a press statement made available to TDN, a factional National President of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Alhaji (Engr.) Sanusi Fari based in Abuja has reaffirmed the state chairmanship of Prince Robert Obi as the interim chairman d the association in the state.


According to Engineer Fari, the installation of Robert Obi is in line with the Association's Constitution after the expiration of tenure of office of the Calabar Depot Unit Chairman, Mr. Lawrence Agim.


He went further to appreciate the state government for deeming it fit to lift the band it placed on the association. 



The press statement reads in full: 


IPMAN – ABUJA PRESS RELEASE


1. I, Alhaji (Engr.) Sanusi Fari, the National President of IPMAN wish to appreciate the Cross River State Government for lifting the suspension of IPMAN activities and subsequent recognition of Prince Robert Asue Obi as Interim Chairman pending the conduct of elections when normalcy is restored.


2. Following the expiration of tenure of office of the Calabar Depot Unit Chairman, Mr. Lawrence Agim and in line with the relevant sections of the 1997 IPMAN Constitution, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of IPMAN appointed Prince Robert Asue Obi as Chairman, Caretaker Committee of IPMAN, Calabar Depot Unit.



3. I am therefore thanking the Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Ben Ayade for his prompt response to the yearnings of Independent Marketers in Cross River and Akwa Ibom States for effective and efficient distribution of Petroleum Products across these two States.



4. I thank all government and security agencies, members of NUPENG, PTD, IMB and NARTO for their understanding and cooperation all through the period of the suspension and solicit for their continued support to the Current Chairman, Prince Robert Asue Obi.



5. I wish to state that the Cross River State Government did not appoint anybody as Interim Chairman of IPMAN, Calabar but only obeyed the judgment of FHC, Calabar of 19th June, 2019 through recognition of the Chairman, I, Engr. Sanusi Fari, the National President of IPMAN appointed.



6. I enjoin marketers to go about their normal duties to the service of general public and ensure free flow of petroleum products across the two States.

Recall that a Lagos based Factional National Chairman had yesterday challenged the involvement of the state government in choosing for the association who becomes the association's chairman in the state, while it authenticates the leadership of one Elder Edet Umana as it's chairman in Cross River State.
