Egbona rejects Tribunal verdict - heads to appeal court, says mandate still intact

Ukorebi Esien

Hon. Alex Egbona member of the Green chambers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has rejected the verdict of the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Calabar stating that the judgment is questionable in many ramifications.

Egbona called on constituents to remain calm as their mandate freely given to him at the polls is still intact and will ever remain so. He encouraged his followers to remain calm for God who started the good works will perfect it and make it end in Praise.

In a press statement issued and signed by the lawmaker, he said "
We have been studying the judgement. In the mean time, we have taken appropriate steps in line with the provisions of the law, to announce our rejection of the judgement.

Our lawyers are already doing the  the needful in those direction. We are determined to test the law, vis a vis the conclusions drawn by the judges. That is why there is an appeal court. We are going there to get justice."

The statement reads thus:

PRESS STATEMENT : My dear Abi/Yakurr people,

You must have been aware that the tribunal this Wednesday evening gave its own judgement which we consider questionable in many respects.

We are going there to get justice.

I thank you all for the calls and concerns in the last few hours since after judgement was delivered. I can confidently say that the mandate you freely gave to me is intact and will remain so.

May God be with us. For the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency, it is forward ever. God who started the good work will perfect it. So, be strong and of good courage. Do not panic, do not fret. We will always win and it will end in praise.

Thank you for always being there

Signed
Alex Egbona, Ph.D
Deputy Chairman
House of Reps Committee on Petroleum
