FOI: Ayade suspends aide for leaking government information, sends signal to others

According to a press release signed by the chief media aide of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, Mr. Christian Ita, the governor hours ago, suspended his SA on Budget, Mr. Moses Onoh.

According to the release, the suspension was necessitated on the fact that the aide alledgely disclosed government sensitive communications to the public.

The report reads thus:

Cross River State Governor, Sir Ben Ayade has suspended the Special Adviser on Budget, Hon. Moses Onoh.

Hon. Onoh's suspension, which is a direct consequence of his mis-handling of privilege official communication, takes immediate effect.

All appointees of government are hereby, warned that His Excellency the Governor will not condone any abuse of office of any kind, including the leaking of privilege official communication.

Christian Ita
Special Adviser, Media and Publicity

Recall that in 2000 the Federal Government of Nigeria signed the freedom of information act into law.

The Freedom of Information Act is the law that gives citizens the right to access information from government institutions and agencies.

In the light of the above one tends to wonder where the place of the Freedom of Information Act resides in Cross River State.

Attempt to reach the embattled AS, Moses Unoh was not fruitful as his contact number wasn't contecting.
