Abi still in safe hands, Etta informs constituents as A/court failed to pass judgment

Davies Etta

There were high hopes Saturday morning that the legal cum political battle for the soul of Abi State Constituency between Dr. Davies Etta of the PDP and Hon. Iwara Inah will be put to rest as the Appeal Court sitting in Calabar got ready to give judgment on 16 electoral cases brought before it from the Election Petition Tribunal.

All the 16 cases whose judgment went in Favour of candidates of the People's Democratic Party as the Judges ruled that the Appellant's appeal Lacks merit and hereby dismissed their appeals while upholding the decision of the lower tribunal except that of Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency between John Gaul Lebo and Alex Egbona.

Constituents and supporters of Hon. Davies Etta were left perplexed as the Court session came to a close without the judges making any pronouncement on the case between Etta and Iwara.

This neccissated the Honourable member to put up a press Statement this morning addressing what transpired at the Appeal Court and the present state of affairs as it concerns the Abi State House seat in the Assembly.

The release reads thus:

Update on our Appeal at the Appellant Court

Good morning my beloved constituents,

I know many of you have been worried about the outcome of Saturday's Session at the Court of Appeal, as I have received several calls and text messages seeking to know what the Appellant court has to say as regards our appeal, especially where there was no pronouncement on our case.

I had deliberately refused to issue an official statement till I met with my solicitors, which I did yesterday.

On this note, I want us all to remain calm as God is still in control and Abi State Constituency is still in safe hands. I am still your representative at the assembly.

As we all know, Saturday, 2nd November was the first time our appeal was heard in court, the court also adopted our motion on the same Saturday and as such would be impossible for it to pass judgment on the same day.

While we await for a new date to be slated where judgment will be passed let's keep praying and working towards our peaceful coexistence in Abi.

Like I have always said, peace is the only way development can be attracted to Abi. No meaningful investment will come to us in whatever form when we are at war with each other.

Once again, I solicit for your understanding and cooperation even as I objectively purse the restoration of peace in Abi.

Thank you all and God Bless.

Hon. (Dr) Davies Etta
Your representative at the Cross River State House of Assembly
