According to information reaching our newsroom, over 300 vehicles, commuters, passengers and other road users have been left stranded since 5 am at the Iwuru section of the Ikom - Calabar Highway

According to an eyewitness report, the youths took over the road protesting the dead of a community member who was killed by soldiers early this morning.

Speaking with TDN, Engr Jerome Egbe who was also trapped in the situation on his way from Abuja said: "We were coming back from Abuja when we got to small Iwuru and met some youths destroying vehicles and assaulting innocent citizens having blocked the road.  According to them soldiers killed one of them this morning.

" You know that section of the road is bad and maybe these boys stood there and were collecting N100 from vehicles, maybe they didn't know that was an army vehicle since the soldiers must have disguised themselves. So I believed there must have engaged them and it resulted to the killing". Egbe explained.

When contacted the House member representing Biase LGA in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ogbor Ogbor informed TDN that he has been put on the know and currently on top of the situation to ensure law and order as well as peace is maintained.

TDN is currently monitoring the situation and we promise to keep you posted
