Speaker, CRSHA leads members to Ebom, as lawmaker bids father farewell

The Speaker of the 9th Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams, Saturday, 23rd of November 2019 led members of the Assembly to Ebom community in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State for the Funeral and Memorial Service of Late Chief Eta Enyi Ofem, Father of Hon. (Dr.) Davies Etta, member representing Abi State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly.

The Speaker who was seen at the event in company of the leader of the house, and member representing Ogoja state constituency, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey and members representing Odukpani and Obubra 2 state constituencies Hon. Francis Asuquo and Hon. Friday Ovat respectively.

Also sighted at the event were Rt. Hon. Nelson Ofem and Hon. Elvert Nyiam Members, representing Yakurr 1 and Ikom 2 respectively. The event which saw several members of the political class especially those of the PDP family, the church and people from all works of life storm Ebom was a huge success as the weather was friendly. 

Speaking exclusively to TDN, the speaker, Eteng Jones advised members of the briefed family to tow the giant strides of their father while maintaining and building on the legacies he left behind.

Other members who took turns to speak with TDN said they where in Ebom to show solidarity with their colleague as their presence is a huge statement that the PDP family, especially the legislators are very much united, defending each others back. While they advise their colleague to keep the flame of his father's good life burning.

Nelson Ofem revealed that he was tutored and mentored by the late Chief  Eta, stating that Chief had been a good man whose life style must be emulated and values upheld.

In his message, the minister in charge of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Ebom Parish admonished the teeming crowd at the funeral to concentrate on the real issues of life while on earth, stating that after death, what matters are those virtues we upheld while on earth.
