APC chairmanship candidate in C'River threatens court action, reason will amaze you

Local News

A chairmanship candidate for Yakurr Local Government Area in the forthcoming, Local Government election under the auspices of the All Ptogressives Congress, Chief Ifere Paul has threatened to seek redress in Court should the organisers of the just held Calabar Media Summit refuse to tender and unreserved apology under 24 hours for nominating him as Cross River Social Media Influncer of the year without his consent.

The APC chieftain who made his position on social media, accused the organisers of using his name to gain financial favours from well meaning individuals of the society.

His post reads in full:

Attention: Ukorebi Esien & Anthony Duke:

Please take note: Calabar Media Summit 2020.

My attention has been called to a media event you organized in Calabar, tagged "Calabar Media 2020" where a lot of awards were distributed to winners.

Sadly and of importance is that our principal, Chief Ifere Paul's name, his brand, and his personality was used to promote such an event without his consent, directly or indirectly.

It is wrong that Chief Ifere Paul was nominated to contest with other personalities as the "Social Media Influencer" in that event without informing him altogether.

While Chief Ifere Paul appreciates your kind gesture to have considered him as one of the nominees for such an award, courtesy demands that he should have been informed to either, accept to participate or opt out.

Your event, even though noble as it was made to be, did not respect our principal's rights (Rights to Freedom of Information and Association).

Over the last three months, Chief Ifere Paul have been so engrossed with his campaigns and consultation as Chairman of Yakurr LGA, and would have rightly opted out of this your so-called "Calabar Media Summit 2020".

Our principal deserves an apology within the next 24 Hours for using his name, brand, and personality in soliciting for funds, promotions, grants, loans, contributions, etc, without his consent.

We have also briefed our lawyers and may take necessary legal actions against your failure to do the needful.

Signed:
Odemonke Ibiang,
Spokesperson for Amazing Race Campaign Organization.

It should be and recalled that the Calabar Media Summit held Friday, 28th February with several dignitaries attending uh event.

A former Senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, Senator Bassey Ewa Henshaw, the regional Director of Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation were and a host of others were all in attendance.
