According to an unverified information reaching our news room, commotion and confusion has set in as the National Working Committee, NWC of the People's Democratic Party faults the party's candidates for the March 28th Local Government elections in Cross River state.

The statement has it that the National Body of the party is not in sync with the manner at which the party in the selected its candidates for the forthcoming election, stating that due process was not followed.

The statement reads below;

1. National Working Committee of the People's Democratic Party affirms that PDP doesn't have Candidates for the LGA elections of 28th March 2020 in Cross River State

2. National Working Committee of PDP directs the Cross River State Chapter of the party to ask for a shift in date of LGA elections. Faults the Leadership of PDP in Cross River State.

An inside source from the NWC in Abuja said that the party insisted that the right thing be done on the basis of transparency.

It should be recalled that after what was supposed to be a consensus congress where the party leadership in the state selected its candidates in all the 18 Local Government Areas and wards, some members of the party were aggrieved and not satisfied with the process. This led to several protests in some local government areas, with some youths from Yala Local Government Area taking the protest to Abuja.

TDN is yet to confirm if the statement accredited to the NWC is as a result of the Abuja protest by Yala youths.
