CORVID19: See latest news from CROSIEC as regards C'River LG Elections

CALABAR: Amidst fear of spread of the deadly Coronavirus, many Cross Riverians have called for the cancelations or postponement of the forthcoming March 28th Local Government elections in Cross River State even as the world is now encouraging social distancing.

But the state's elections umpires CROSIEC - Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission has said that it will not shift nor cancel the election date as there is no news of the disease recorded in the state and as such not threat in the state. 

Notwithstanding, the election umpire advised political parties to ensure it doesn't hold campaigns that will involve large crowd and it also advised voters to disease from crowding polling units on election day. Stating that when voters vote and go home, it will reduce the crowd and further reduce the risk of spreading or contacting the crowd.
