#IWD200: Mrs Obiano advocates to end Gender Based Violence.

AKWA: Wife of the Governor of Anambra State Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano has advocated for an end to gender based violence.

Mrs. Obiano made the call at Nteje, Oyi Council Area while addressing a mammoth crowd at Nteje, Oyi Council to commemorate the International Women's day as observed across globe.

She noted that there was need to pay attention to unity, equity, advocacy especially in a world where injustice abound.

" Let us therefore resist the reoccurring incidence of gender based violence as we use this opportunity to celebrate act of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played extraordinary roles in the history of our community, state and community " she said.

Similarly, in her remarks the Special Adviser  to the Governor on Town Union, Community and Chieftaincy Matters, Barr. Vera Queen Okonkwo called for protection of women's right.

Barr. Obi who applauded the government for creating an enabling environment for women to thrive in the state advocated for full implementation of the national policy of 35 percent gender affirmative action for women in public governance and leadership. .
