We are dying of hunger, Pelican Stars tells Ayade

Pelican Stars female football club of Calabar has send a 'save-our-soul' message to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State.

The girls, in separate talks with newsmen, lamented that their allowance for 8 months have not been paid by the state government.

Finding reveals that Rovers Football Club has been paid uptil January 2020, while table payment has been scheduled for Ayade United Football Club to clear three months salaries.

Regrettably, the girls almost missed out of the 2019/2020 Nigerian Professional Women League, but not for the suspension of football activities in Nigeria in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The girls are wondering the offence they have committed to be neglected without 8 months pay.

The state government has called for total shut down on public gatherings, asking people to stay safe at home. But the question is this, how will these girls feed at home without pay for 8 months? What is their fate in the club in view of the neglect? Why were other clubs paid and the girls not inclusive? For how long should they continue to suffer? When will the state government come to their aid?
