Confusion as Ayade denies earlier release, insist No Mask, No Movement ban begins today

Ukorebi Esien | 6th April, 2020

There seems to be some confusion in the camp as minutes after the a press release purported to have been signed by the Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Ita, another release emerged with the media aide asking Cross Riverians to disregard the earlier release.

The second which insist that the No Mask, No Movement ban enforcement still commence today reads as follows:

No masks, no movement order commenced today

My attention has been drawn to a press statement purportedly signed by me in which it is claimed that the enforcement of the no masks, no movement order issued by His Excellency, Sir Ben Ayade has been shifted to tomorrow Tuesday April 7th, 2020.

I wish to state emphatically and without equivocation that the said statement was not issued by me. I therefore, urge relevant government agencies saddled with the responsibility of enforcing the order and members of the public to disregard the said statement.

It goes without saying therefore, that the enforcement of the order commenced today, Monday April 6, 2020.

Anyone who flouts the order shall have his or herself to blame.

Christian Ita
Special Adviser
Media and Publicity to Governor

This situation has actually set Cross Riverians in disarray and confusion has many who read the first release are out of their homes about their normal business hoping to get the mask later in the day, before the second press release came insisting the enforcement on the ban begins today.
