Meritorious service award: I can't die till I've affected a billion lives - Joseph Edet (La' Shakara)

"A man's glory is not in the number of things he possesses, but in the number of lives he has touched." These were the words of a wise man while advising his ambitious son whose goal in life was to amass wealth at all cost.

But for Joseph Edet aka, La' Shakara, the current acting MD, Cross River Garment Factory and Chairman of the Joseph Edet Project, the real essence of life is to reach out to a brother or a neighbor especially in times of need. To him life is worthless if one can't be of a helping hand to his neighbor. 

With this in mind, Joseph Edet through his project - The Joseph Edet Project which was conceived into existence way back in 2004 while in the University will be reaching out to indigents citizens resident within Calabar and Odukpani LGA's. The outreach will provide relieve materials such as food items, business support items and other palliatives aimed at helping citizens cushion the effect of the COVID-19 Pandemic. 

The tall lanky fashion boss disclosed this when members of "The Joseph Edet Project" paid him a visit with a surprised Award for his meritorious service to humanity. 

According to the Director General of the Project, Mr. Ecoma Eson, the award stems from his good works which are already in public domain with the name Joseph Edet fast becoming a house hold name. The award he said was a way of saying thank you and encouraging the young politician to do more and keep up his good works of service to humanity. 

His words; "It is usually said that a prophet is no honored in his home town, but La' Shakara's case is different. Your handwork is in public domain and has become an issue of public discuss because you have not disappointed in anyway. We as your affiliates we are very happy to associate and identify with you. if we cannot celebrate you, then who else will we celebrate."

Chief Ekpenyong Akiba, a forefront member of the project who presented the award to Mr. Edet said Mr. Joseph Edet's good works and versatility are speaking for him ranging from his gaint strides at the Obudu Mountain Resorts, the Cross River State Summit Hills and currently the Garment Factory, not forgetting his private business are all evidence to attest to his efficiency. 

"Your works are not hidden and that is why I keep calling you 10/11 spanner because his excellency the governor has recognized this and keeps taking you up and down from one agency to the other because he has seen your worth.
Your meritorious services at the Obudu Mountain Resorts, the Cross River State Summit Hills and currently the Garment Factory, not forgetting your private business all speaks volumes." He noted.

In his response, Mr. Joseph Edet aka, LA'shakara expressed surprise and appreciation for the award stating that the best gift he has to offer to humanity is sincere and pure service, stating that such gestures reminds him that he must always do things to affect more lives. 
He went on to state that his purpose and essence of life will be defeated if he can't touch up to a billion lives before he passes on. For the Joseph Edet Project, he said that vision is quiet simple and the goal is to add positive to life 

"I truly want to appreciate you guys for this, Your believe in this vision is really encouraging. This only reminds me that I must keep doing stuffs, When asked what my purpose is, I usually say my purpose is to add positive to life, in every sphere I find myself, politics, religious, economy etc my goal is to not to leave this world until I have touch one billion lives." He noted.

The event featured the award presentation, group photographs and a planning session for the next outreach.
