You can't be our advocate, Bakassi indigenes slams Jalingo over media attacks on Ita-Giwa

Ukorebi Esien 2nd June, 2020

As the media war between citizen Agba Jalingo, owner of Cross River State renowned news website called CrossRiverWatch and a former Senator of The Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa begins to take different dimensions, indigenes of Bakassi, where the former senator hails from have risen up to her defense.

In their reply to some of the allegations leveled against Sen. Ita-Giwa by Jalingo, the constituents who made their position known under the auspices of two sociocultural groups, Voice of Bakassi and Bakassi Welfare Union, said Agba Jalingo has no right to advocate for them, stating that Jalingo's claim to be acting on their behalf is tantamount to insulting their collective reasoning, stating that they were satisfy with the good works of Ita-Giwa whom they said has done them no wrong.

Their statement which was signed by
reads in part;

"We know you for what you really are, a cheap hustler seeking undeserved attention, acclaim masquerading as a journalist and activist. For you to even claim to be acting on behalf of Bakassi indegenes is tantamount to insulting our collective intelligence, how dare you. We know our friends and you Mr. Agba Jalingo can never be our friends talk less of being our advocate. You better relocate to your local government where you just may be regarded as a big deal to practice your job juvenile brand of activism"

The groups in their statement further extolled the philanthropic and humanitarian acts of the wife of the late Dele Giwa, stating that she has among numerous kind acts also singlehandedly donated the following structures and amenities to the Bakassi community; according to them, the amenities include;

1: Health Centre at Abana now in Cameroon.
2; Town Halls at Abana and Atai Ema in Dayspring.
3; Renovation of Secondary School in Atabong
4; Borehole and Generator in Atai- Ema (Dayspring)
5; Housing Estate in Atabong now in Cameroon.

Furthermore, the group called on Jalingo to come out of his hallucinations that 'mama Bakassi' inflated "the cost of a contract for the supply of hospital beds to health centres at Atabong and Abana. According to the merchant of fantasy the incident occurred during the tenure of Captain Ibim Princewill in 1989."

The statement reads "We are appalled by your social media lazy journalism. As bona fide indigenes of Bakassi we wish to categorically declare that Senator Ita-Giwa or her company have never been awarded or carried out any contract to construct any structure or supply any hospital equipment of any sort either in Abana or Atabong.

During the period you mentioned in your write up, the villages were administered by Cameroon, there was no Bakassi Local Government Area" refer to the Constitution."

Continuing, the statement reads "Indeed we have every cause to appreciate and cherish the noble Senator for her generosity and unwavering commitment to the welfare of Bakassi. We shall therefore not idly stand by as an ignoble blackmailer like Agba Jalingo insults our beloved leader. While it may be the custom in his linage for inconsequential runts like him to insult their superiors, we as authentic Efiks have no such custom.

On the contrary we are minded to value our heros and Sanetor Ita-Giwa is one of such heroine we hold in very high regard.
Your previous ludicrous statement that she was smuggled into Calabar for which you are yet to provide proof of is yet to be addressed by you.

You have now confirmed your lunacy by alleging that a hospital bed supply contract was inflated by her. If you fail to substantiate your delusional allegations, your imaginary claims to being a journalist would be exposed for what it truly is, the hallucinations if an intellectually challenged bufoon.

Your pretence at being a journalist and activist may resonate with a few undiscerning fellows but we at the Voice of Bakassi and Bakassi Welfare Union are more discerning.

We know you for what you really are, a cheap hustler seeking undeserved acclaim masquerading as a journalist and activist. For you to even claim to be acting on behalf of Bakassi indigenes is tantamount to insulting our collective intelligence, how dare you. We know our friends and you Mr. Agba Jalingo can never be our friends talk less of being our advocate. You better relocate to your local government where you just may be regarded as a big deal to practice your job juvenile brand of activism"

Recall that Agba had earlier in a Facebook post accused the former lawmaker of trying to truncate the process of allocating accommodation in the recently Ayade estate built at Afiang Bakassi for the Bakassi refugees

gues. An accusation the Efik methriach had since debunked to be untrue with reasons.
