Agbo Etta Inaugurated as 5th President of Golden Pals Int'l, inducts new members

Social activities are great sources of fellowship, friendship, and community development, this was the feeling in the air right inside the Samphill Hall of Ness Hotel, Mayne Avenue extension, Calabar, when Comr. Agbo E. Etta took the oath of office as the 5th president of Golden Pals International. 

In his speech, President Etta noted that a new era for the club has just been unveiled as he and his team of executive are positioned to take Golden Pals to its eldorado. While accepting the responsibility of service on behalf of himself and his executive, Eta, acknowledged the enormous challenges past executives faced in piloting the affairs of the group, thanking them for not allowing the challenges sink the group he enjoined everyone to join hands with the new executive as they are poised to add value to the association.

While performing his first task as President of the Association, president Agbo Eta dissolved all existing standing committees of the association and thereafter set up a constitution reviewing committee as well as conducted by-elections to fill in vacant offices in the executive team. 

Earlier, Comrade Anthony Bissong, State Chairman of Young Progressive Party in Cross River state who chaired the event commended the group for their steadfastness and ability of coming together in unity and oneness for over ten years, stating that from his observation Golden Pals International is a training ground for future leaders to take over the state. He further urged them to continue in the oneness and stay focus for a better tomorrow that will rob off on the state and nation. 

In his words, "I thank you guys for keeping the faith, for your steadfastness and togetherness, I have seen great personalities here, people of great leadership qualities and I have realized in a short while that this is nothing but a training Ground to take over the leadership of the state. ...Beyond what we see here today, I can tell you for free, that I have seen the next governor of Cross River State in our midst."

In his handover note, Engr. Akiba Ekpenyong Ekpo immediate past Chairman of the Association, appreciated members for the support given to him and his team of excos, noting that Comrade Agbor Eta is a good hand to handover the Association to while stating that Golden Pals an association has passed through different stages of storms and turbulence, but today unveils a new and bright era for the group.

"As an association, we have passed through so much turbulence, but today unveils a bright era and I know a new era will be brighter and I so much trust the man who will pilot this ship after me." The immediate past chairman noted.

"My administration inherited an association with 95% of members who were actually unable to pay their dues as at when due, all the same, I appreciate all contributions, supports, and all those who stood by us. I thank the electoral committee for a job well done. Your free and fair elections have brought us here today." He added. 

The occasion featured the induction of new members while old members renewed their commitment to the group. Speaking with our correspondence, some members expressed optimism in the Agbor Eta led new Executive stating that he has been tested and tried in various capacities and has shown great leadership strength to lead to the group to a great height. 

Also, speaking with our correspondence, the chairman, Board of Trustee, and the pioneer President of the Association,  GP Edim Edim Ekong expressed satisfaction with all that transpired, stating that he has so much confidence in the leadership of Agbo Etta. 
While giving a historical background of the Association, Ekong said Golden Pals was conceived after a group of friends supported a friend during his wedding and they thereafter saw the need to metamorphose into an Association with the first meeting holding under a tree in his compound. Today Golden Pals is duly registered and has carried out several humanitarian services. 

Ekong informed that Golden Pals International is a social, Philanthropic group that carries out social services while reaching out to the less privileged and the vulnerable. He also revealed that plans are in top gear to embark on an Educational humanitarian service as soon s school resume.
