Create space for other youths when you are in position, lawmaker task youths

As the world celebrates young people and their various contributions to societal development, a lawmaker in Cross River, Hon. Davies Etta has advised Cross River State youths to endeavor to carry other young persons along when God blesses them with opportunities.

Etta said just as this year's theme of International Youth Day states, "Youths Engagement for Global Action" there's a great need for youths to be productively engaged in all spheres of life. Stating that the engagement of young people by leaders is non-negotiable as leaders and government will benefit more should they tap into the numerous potentials of the young generation.

"Leaders everywhere, especially those in Africa and Cross River state in specific must do everything possible to enable young persons to enjoy a life of safety, dignity, opportunity, and contribute to the fullest of their great potentials."

The lawmaker, who represents Abi state constituency in the 9th Cross River State House of Assembly, noted that empowering young people will make the world a better place while emphasizing that investing on young people will be rewarding in future because they are the next set of leaders that will take over sensitive positions, therefore, they need to be empowered and prepared for the responsibilities ahead.

Etta also used the opportunity to encourage Cross River State youths to create room for other young persons whenever God blesses them with opportunities. He said this was necessary because there's a strong but subtle gang up against the youths being given opportunities. He, therefore, advised that youth should instead of pulling down fellow youth, rather help others grow.

"I have noticed a trend in Cross River state, where young persons are fun of pulling down other young persons, and those with opportunities gang up against others trying to climb the ladder, I think instead of this 'Pull Him Down' attitude, lets imbibe the attitude of growing together, support yourselves, when God blesses you with a position, instead of blocking other youths from coming up, create room for them and bring them in," Etta advised.
