Former lawmaker slumps and dies while quarreling with friend in Cross River

A former lawmaker who represented, Ikpakapit ward, Ugep in Yakurr local government area of Cross River State, Hon. Nwenji Eteng popularly known as Hon. Labour slumped and died some days ago while exchanging words with his friend over where to pack his car.

An eyewitness, Miss Obia informed that the row between the two friends who also happen to be related paternally was over a parking space. Hon. Nwenji had packed his car in front of a shop belonging to Mr. Eteng's wife. Eteng popularly known as "Rise Up" was now warning Hon. Nwenji not to park his car there and an argument ensued which led to exchange of words, challenges and threats. It was in the midst of all these that Hon. Nwenji collapsed and died instantly.

"The deceased friend, Mr Eteng popularly known as Rise up was quarrelling his friend Hon Labour, telling him not to park his car in front of his wife's shop. As they were quarrelling and challenging themselves, the deceased slumped and died." Obia informed.

According to our eyewitness account, when this happened youths, neighbors began destroying Mr. Eteng's belongings accusing him of using spiritual means in killing his friend.

TDN gathered that Mr. Eteng is currently on the run, but what we can't ascertain now is if Eteng is hiding for safety or his hiding because the accusation is true.

Many have began questioning the destruction of Eteng's property, stating Hon. Labor may have died of a heart attack and not a spiritual attack from Mr. Eteng as many believed, while calling for an autopsy to be carried out to truly ascertain the cause of Hon. Labour's death.
