Award: Again, AIT's Rasheed Olanrewaju Wins Media Personality Of The Year

Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair, Media Personality Of the Year 

Multiple Award winning Journalist and Africa Independent Television Senior Correspondent, Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair, has emerged the winner of the  revered Calabar Heritage Award Media Personality Of the Year.

Olanrewaju won the award in the South South Category, following the votes and subsequent recommendations by the Board of Trustees and panel of Due Diligence of an event held at the prestigious Transcorp Hotels,Calabar.

Calabar Heritage Award formerly known as Efik Heritage Award was organised to recognise individuals and organisations in Nigeria who stands out painstakingly and has Contributed in one way or the other to the  growth and development of Nigeria.

His recognition was a plus to other multiple awards he has received within and outside the shore of Nigeria, with the recent being the Cross River State Government owned Carnival Calabar maiden Award of Excellence.

Speaking Shortly after receiving the Award, Olanrewaju dedicated the award to the Africa Independent Television AIT who provide him with a platform to Contribute to National Development.

Specifically, he thanked the Chairman Emeritus of Daar Communications PLC, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi and his Dear Wife Dr Oluwatosin Dokpesi, The Group Managing Director, De Tony Akiotu and other management of the Daar Communications Plc.

He thanked the Organizers and promised to always contribute his quota to the nation building with an agenda setting theory of journalism that will bring to the fore,things that are not hitherto known to the government and the governed.

"I know that media personality' is a person who works in media, and uses their name and personality to appeal to viewers/readers/listeners. Using media programming and journalistic techniques such as interviews, commentaries, and reviews to solve problems for the people, this I promise to continue doing" he added.

Earlier during the presentation of the award, the Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Hon.Goerge O'Ben Etchi commended Olanrewaju for being a problem solver who always has the interest of Cross River State at heart.

"I have known Rasheed  for many years and he has become an indigene of Cross River  with his Continuous immeasurable contributions  to the state"

The Team Lead of Calabar Heritage Awards, Etubom Edem Effiong Bassey (Senator), said the award was put in place  to recognise people from different divides through their contribution to humanity,nation building and national cohesion through building a  veritable tool for preservation of truly Africa Cultural Heritage starting from Calabar.
