Obudu Cult Clash: Two killed as, LG boss imposes curfew

Hon. Boniface Ewhe
Chairman, Obudu LGA

In a bid to restore law and order in Obudu Local Government Area, the Chairman of Council, Hon. Boniface Eraye Ewhe has ordered the restriction of movement within the local government area between the hours of 7:00PM to 6:00AM with immediate effect.

This is one of the the council's effort to bring under control the renewed cult clash that has claimed the lives of two young persons.

Speaking through his chief Press Secretary, Mr. Richard Abu, in a statement the council boss, condemned in its entirety the carrying of weapons by unauthorized persons and involvement in cult related activities stating that such aims at painting negative narrative about the local government.

He therefore called on all residents to strictly adhere to the curfew order as security operatives have been briefed to enforce the order to the teeth.

The statement reads in full:

Following the renewal of hostilities between rival cult groups in Obudu, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Boniface Eraye Ewhe has imposed restrictions in movement within the LGA from 7:00PM to 6:00AM with immediate effect.

Residents and commuters are advised to adhere strictly to this directive as the security men have been instructed to enforce with zero tolerance.

The Chairman however, condemns in strong terms the recreant act by some youths who are bent on painting a wrong picture of the LGA to the public and regrets the gruesome killing of two promising youths.

Going forward, drastic measures will be taken to ensure that justice prevails and future reoccurrences are abated.
